Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, a seasoned leader in the oil and gas industry, has been named the Chairman of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Board of Governors for 2025.

A Leader in the Nigerian Oil & Gas Sector
As the Managing Director and CEO of FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P), a Nigerian independent oil company, Adeyemi-Bero has spearheaded several innovative projects.
Under his leadership, FIRST E&P has played a vital role in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas development, including the operation of the Anyala and Madu oil fields. These projects, in collaboration with partners like the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), have advanced the country’s energy production and self-reliance.
Before founding FIRST E&P in 2011, Adeyemi-Bero held significant positions in globally renowned companies.
His tenure with Shell spanned two decades, during which he served as Business Director at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria and Vice President for New Business Development in Africa. Following his time at Shell, he joined BG Group Nigeria as President and Managing Director, leading the company’s exploration and production operations in the region.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Adeyemi-Bero is the Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), a coalition of 25 indigenous Nigerian oil companies.
